That 90's Show Review:

Release

Hello, Wisconsin!

On January 19, Netflix released a spin-off of the popular American sitcom, "That 70's Show", called "That 90's Show". The nostalgic show brought familiar faces back together and introduced new characters to carry on traditions in Kitty and Red Forman's basement.

On the first day of its release, 1.7 million people watched the first episode making "That 90's Show" a hit on Netflix, and bringing a sentimental feel to the streaming platform for fans of the original show, which was removed from Netflix in 2020.

Trailer

The official trailer for the show was released a month prior to the show's release date, generating buzz and excitement on social media. The trailer not only featured the new cast but teased fans with members of the cast from the original show.

PLOT AND CHARACTERS

In true nostalgic fashion, the show brings us to the place it all started in 1976: Point Place, Wisconsin. Now almost 20 years later in 1995, we are brought to the Forman household for more laughs and a new coming-of-age story following 15-year-old Leia Forman, daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti.

When Leia decides to spend the summer in Point Place with her grandparents, her life changes. This awkward and quirky girl from Chicago finds new friends, and Leia feels like she finally belongs.

Leia's new friends (Gwen, Jay, Ozzie, Nikki, and Nate) take over the Forman's basement, just like her parents did in their youth, encountering new adventures, young love, and a fresh stash of weed.

If you are a '90s kid, this show is sure to bring some nostalgic memories from your childhood. But even more than that, "That 70's Show" fans are expected to encounter some nostalgia themselves. Along with some surprise cameos from Michael Kelso, Fez, and Jackie Burkhart, Kitty and Red Forman remain main characters in the spinoff as well.

The show also features easter eggs and references from the original show, such as the theme song, which debuts a 90's grunge sound rather than the classic rock theme from the original show.

conclusion

"That 90's Show" has become a favorable choice for Netflix subscribers to stream, but many fans wonder about the longevity of the show. Since the debut season takes place in the summer, ending with Leia going back to Chicago, viewers are wondering how writers will continue the story.

No plans for the future of the show have been released yet, but fans are hoping to see their favorite characters (new and old) return to Point Place.
