Critiquing a Media Critic

 Everyone's A Critic

Media critics can be defined as a "person who communicates an assessment and an opinion of various forms of creative works such as art, literature, music, cinema, theater, fashion, architecture, and food". A media critic is not limited to asserting their opinion on a specific topic or just one platform, media critics can cover a broad multitude of topics and can choose to deliver their opinions on social media, news outlets, personal blogs, or professional databases.

Some of the most well-known media critics use social media platforms to deliver their critiques. YouTube has been a huge platform for non-traditional media critics, like Kurtis Conner.

Kurtis Conner is a Canadian YouTuber, podcaster, and comedian. Kurtis is known for his hilarious commentary on his YouTube channel, where he provides unique opinions about trends on the internet. Kurtis originally started on the video app, Vine and YouTube and has expanded to several different social media platforms, including TikTok.

Since 2013, Kurtis has posted videos to his main YouTube channel which has amassed over 4 million subscribers.

Some of Kurtis' most popular videos feature his commentary about popular trends, movies, shows, or celebrities. Kurtis leaves no stone unturned, he has made videos about the most popular and obscure topics on the internet.

Kurtis is not a "normal" media critic. He does not have a specific form of content that he critiques or analyzes, and he is open to any type of media to discuss. A lot of his video topics are suggestions from his subscribers, who are eager to hear his perspective.

Kurtis has unique editing and formatting for his videos. His commentary is consistently littered with random edits and sound bits that align with his sense of humor. A majority of Kurtis' humor is made up of puns (that he immediately recognizes as poor jokes) and excessive swearing. Kurtis is not afraid to make fun of others, or himself, and is blatantly honest about his feelings toward a topic or person.

Barbie vs Bratz
In this video, Kurtis compares a Barbie and Bratz
movie to determine which doll company makes
better movies.

The "I'm Not Like Most Girls" Phenomenon
In this video, Kurtis talks about the internet 'phenomenon':
"I'm Not Like Most Girls" style of content and the issues
it has.

"Deep" Content That Isn't Deep At All
There is a lot of fake deep content on the internet,
and in this video, Kurtis compiles some of the worst ones
and their impact on the media and our society.

Kurtis' bizarre responses and reactions to topics are uniquely his own. I am personally a fan of Kurtis Conner and enjoy listening to his commentary about random topics on the internet.

Based on Kurtis' substantial following alone, he is obviously a well-liked media critic. His very unserious videos are definitely made for a target audience in the age range of 16-30 and their interests.

If you are looking for a media critic to provide comedic commentary about the most random topics available on the internet, Kurtis Conner is an excellent source of humor and provides slightly informational content as well.
